Why I Will Never Use a Leaf Blower To Dry My Car

So I purchased a new EGO 650 back in April and it showed up right around the time that I took delivery of the Carrera T. I honestly purchased the blower to keep the driveway clean without having to lug a cord around all the time, but the side benefit of drying off the Porsche and other cars in a quick manner was a bonus.

Unfortunately, things went sideways right from the start. I was drying off the car with the EGO after one of its first washes (less than 500 miles on the car) and *something* or *a few small things* flew out of my EGO blower at a high enough velocity to leave small chips on the top of my passenger side rear fender (top of the rear wheel arch on the 911). I had just finished a 2 stage correction on the paint and am 100% sure they were not there before. I noticed the larger chip when my towel got stuck on a piece of the paint that had flaked up from the impact when doing a sealant application. Needless to say, I was rather gutted that my perfect new car is now not perfect, but months of therapy and some Dr. ColorChip have helped me *mostly* get over it. Lesson learned. Then and there I decided I would no longer use a leaf blower on the car without some sort of filter to prevent dust/sand/etc sucking through the intake and projecting on the car at a velocity that can chip paint. I also pondered with horror if any professional detailers are using these on high-end customer cars for aid with drying - because this experience alone gave me enough pucker factor to reconsider the whole equation.
